It's been some time since our good friend Burdent released the Colourdust EP and Duffy LP with us. Both projects showed us the artist's penchant for groovy downtempo. However, he's also one to dabble into the more abstract side of electronic music. In fact, the same month as Colourdust, he released Pseudoflowers, a field recordings album on Welcome To Clydebank! Now on this release, "Take 1", Burdent taps back into that mellower, moodier version of his world with a series of ambient pieces.

The tones are like natural feelings that pass over you like overcast. Moments like Z Zerg are throbbing, yet delicate. Quaten evokes early synth work (think the theremin) to evoke a cozy sci-fi world. Each piece has a tactile quality about it and is full of tender loving care. Even if you're unfamiliar with Burdent's more avant garde works, give this a try, and perhaps you'll find a lot to resonate with.
