Recurring FNL artist P3RC! has struck again, with another colorful release. Literally; IMO, the most distinctive quality of their music is their knack for evoking color schemes in an auditory medium. Going beyond visual aspects like cover art and music videos, the very melodies and instrumentation vividly bring a spectrum hues to mind; examples being the muted, icy, solemn blue tones of the Bering Strait EP, or the kaleidoscopic bright pinks and greens of the Flowers of Dreams EP. Speaking of the latter, this latest extended EP by P3RC! returns to that same palette and world in a whole new way. Indeed, Dreams Of Flowers channels the flamboyancy of its predecessor in the direction of free-flowing ambient.

Dreams Of Flowers is a conceptual piece in three parts revolving around the life and times of a flower. From growing in the ground from a tiny speck of a seed, to its prime as a full bloom, and finally the adventures of new seeds as they find homes. All the while, these events are scored by drawn-out vibrant tones. Think the midpoint of a string composition, and a MIDI recreation of the same. At ~75 minutes, it very much feels like watching an hourlong of a garden over a year or more, ebbing and flowing. The 5-minute denouement, January Rains, feels as if the midst of the Winter months for a flower bed. A harsh time where not much goes on, but with the promise of an awesome new beginning to follow.
