Surprised to see P3RC!'s second mainline FNL release so soon? So were we! Not long after we released their uber-colorful Flowers of Dreams EP, the prodigious artist got in touch with us again with plans for a follow-up. And by that I mean, she sent an entire, just about finished second project to us out of the blue! 😲 Amazing!

This EP, Bering Strait (so named for the strait connecting the Pacific and Artic oceans) sees the IDM stylings that wowed us in P3RC!'s first FNL release approached from new angles. Heralding a departure from the kaleidoscopic aesthetic of Flowers is a subtle and painterly sleeve. The cover also hints at the work's theming, elaborated further by track titles and composition.

Over six tracks, P3RC! takes you on an adventure through the titular strait. In creating this EP's universe and mood, she took inspiration from Boards of Canada's music, primarily their eerie fourth album Tomorrow's Harvest. The water is frigid, represented by cool and collected (yet also abrasive) downtempo beats. Sampled radio broadcasts and communications act as landmarks on your journey. The voyage even becomes perilous, as the EP steers through high-power synth noise!! Bering Strait is cryptic and tense, and an incredibly compelling follow-up; we hope you love it!
