HOLY HECK YOU GUYS

The Hif Man, the madlad that brought you CHAOSMIC UTOPIA's rowdiest live set, is finally here on fakenumberland with a superb solo outing. He's going three for three with his Hpp;ddA series. Sitting around the two-hour mark as do its predecessors (which you can hear at youtube.com/watch?v=7T8gxgn6BhY and www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFt9cV7e63Q if you're curious), this 2-disc album in three parts is more than just the climax of a trilogy-- I mean, unless there's an Hpp;ddA4 in the cards later! But back on track, this album can quite possibly be considered the enigmatic Hif Man's magnum opus thus far. I don't use that term lightly, this stuff will blow your mind to ATOMS. Though not literally, then you wouldn't be able to hear it.

Hpp;ddA3's three acts each exemplify a different sector of Hif's musical chops. Part one, beginning as soon as you press play, brings you lots of low-fi, high-intensity IDM synth slammers-- very hoppy! Then come track 11, he shifts gears into more freeform territory. Cacophonous sounds and buzzes create a pointillist painting in music form. Then, in part three (starting at track 19), things come to a breaking point with a bunch of wacky and wild, octane-pumped, techno-reminiscent bangers. Reportedly, this part of the album was semi-improvised and almost all composed using a ThinkPad trackwheel!!

It'd be impossible to succinctly describe the kind of craziness you're in for in just a few paragraphs. The Hif Man is a flipping VISIONARY. Some of my favorites in each section are Tizzy, Cilia Swill, and Cycle Era Over. For real, though, with an album this huge and consistently groundbreaking, you're bound to find a bunch of new favorites here.
