Rural America

by My Shirley Remains

/
1.
She turned to me Her eyes glowing wide She said what do you see what do you see? Nine million people crammed in this hell But I found you then I found you then Look out at the skyline your beauty and your grace I found you then I found you then She turned to me Her eyes glowing wide She said what do you see what do you see? what do you see what do you see.. is it me? Is it Holding onto you I feel it all give out Now I know I found you, Now I know I found you Now I know I found you, Holding on Now I know I found you, Now I know, Now I know Now I know, Now I know

Visions 03:06
When I picture you I picture warmth, maybe it's some weird byproduct of being a human. It's a weird feeling of sort of places that don't exist where time distorts, just different emotions and I never really know how to describe it you just get visions in your head visions.
3.
Hold it in, In your eyes I see it all Holding on to you. Seeing you crossing the street the sun shinning down the sun shining down, I held on, I held on to your colors your heat A cold December day somewhere in rural America I could feel it on my skin, through the fog through the air, I am one. As sweet as honey it might pick it up As sweet as honey oh it's you it's you it you

London 02:23
Run away to another land where no one can hear you (cry) Cry the night waiting for you to come. Here I go On the banks of the Thames see the boats on the tide Fall right in, Fall right in (The cold water on your feet as you plunge) Run away Run away.
5.
Ana 04:08
Closer now than before staring into oblivion. Holding on watching time go by I'll spend it with you. I hear your sound echo through it all, Oh hand in hand ill walk through it all. Pull me out of the river my clothes now soaked. I feel warmer now than before.
6.
The Smog 04:18
I walked alone to the garden Over there over there I see something In the air in the air oh it hurts to breathe I can't break it I can't break it now All the buildings there so tall I feel it every time I go in the city Go away go away and leave me alone I feel it every time I see those people running down run down the hill oh, I feel a hand grab me tight. The smog is gone, The smog is gone I can feel it in my lungs but its fading but its fading I felt you here before your colours are everything to me (you see) I feel the dirt beneath it all (underneath the smog, breathe it in slowly) I fell back down but your hand reached out I held on (fall down the staircase, seven miles long) It was warm (every step you take) Maybe I'm not empty after all, it was warm Maybe I'm not empty after all (deeper into eternity.. youll fall) I can feel it in my lungs but it's fading but its fading I felt your.. (like a fox in headlights blissfully unaware) Colours, I felt your colours oh it's so warm, it's so warm in your light in your light. underneath the dirt your hand is warm, Is warm

Fall down the staircase. Seven miles down, down, down you'll fall Like a fox in headlights, Reaching out It falls, toward the ground you'll fall, Fall Hold on hold on, In a small rural American town... In a small rural American town. How did I get here? How did I get here? How did I get here?! How did I get here?! How did I get here? How did I get here? How did I get here. It's real I know Fall.. down, Fall! Eternity lies near the bookshelf, Eternity lies near your ear, Eternity lies inside of you, where do I find it? (2) You're beautiful. I really think you're beautiful, the way you smile, Your eyes... a never-ending void. I love you, I fucking love you. Sweet as honey, It might pick you up. Oh Ana I love you.
9.
Everything I know will fall into one. Everything I know will fall into one. Everything I have will turn into heat. Everything I have will turn into dust. Everything you see is gone away. Everything I know will fall into one. Everything I know will fall into one. But as long as I have you I'm not scared I'm not scared.

about

▶ fake055

A while back on this label, our resident slowcore crooner Brandon Hunt wowed us with a moving, sprawling acoustic exploration through the difficulty of emotions with the album "entropy". This follow-up, now under My Shirley Remains, is such a smooth progression from the ideas there: the electronic flourishes are now blended more nuancedly with the guitar-based crooning. The tempos remain laid back, and the instrumentation moody, yet this album remains a more light hearted affair than its predecessor-- just take a look at the incredibly heartfelt lyrics! This album is a testament to new beginnings and we hope you love this start of a new era for Brandon.

By the way, Brandon has also set up a new guitar-focused netlabel, Parking Spaces, which you can check out for similar music = parkingspaceslabell.bandcamp.com
